North Winton Village

You could say everything is coming up roses in North Winton Village. Not only roses, but marigolds and tulips and daffodils and plenty of other kinds of flowers. Most city neighborhoods bloom brightly in the spring, summer and fall -- but perhaps none more than North Winton Village.

The North Winton Village Association and residents make sure of that. Even City Council President Lois Geiss gets into the planting act. The people who live in this neighborhood love their community and it shows with every petal that opens to the summer sun.

The flower bursts make the neighborhood easy to recognize -- and easy to like. In fact, the neighborhood association even received a certificate of appreciation recognizing its outstanding community gardening efforts and the positive impact. Even the area schoolchildren get involved with the planting.

North Winton Village is a vibrant urban neighborhood covering the Winton Road corridor from the Conrail underpass north to the Irondequoit town line. Membership in the association is also open to residents who live in the area between the Brighton town line and Culver Road.

The bustling business district is adjacent to pleasant residential areas with blocks of gorgeous older homes. The magnificent Centennial Oak Tree, in front of the Browncroft Baptist Church, is the logo for the neighborhood association because of its impressive strength and beauty.

No matter what you may need, it's probably close by in North Winton Village. Groceries, restaurants, hardware and car supplies and more -- it's all within an easy distance, even for walkers and bikers.

The people who do business in North Winton Village also give a lot back to the community by sponsoring numerous improvement projects and the many neighborhood gatherings that take place throughout the year. Here's a list of some of the neighborhood businesses.
